Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. – George Bernard Shaw
For so long, our culture has told us to go out and “find” ourselves. I think that is kind of okay, actually. Because some people do feel lost in this crazy world we live in, and we are sometimes so busy trying to be like everyone else that we forget how unique and amazing we are at our most basic level. So, we may need to go on a mission to “find” who we really are.
But that is just one leg of the journey. Seriously. That shouldn’t take that long, really. Once you decide to figure out who you are apart from the rest of the world, well that part is done. Then what?
That’s when you go on ahead and create yourself. You have a starting point. You know what sets you apart from the mainstream. You know what makes you uniquely you. And then you just don’t stop there. You go on and create yourself to be whatever it is you want to be. To accomplish whatever it is that your heart desires you to accomplish. Finding your unique self is only the launching pad. From there, you must take it further and become who you were meant to be – to create that person, each and every day.
You never have to settle. You never have to believe what other people tell you about you. You never have to stop creating and growing and becoming. I think about this a lot. If we get to our destination, if we stop creating ourselves, well, that’s the end of the journey, right? So, don’t stop. Keep going. There never comes a moment where you can say, “I’m all done now, I’ve achieved perfect. I can rest now.” I just think if you get there, it’s all over. You might as well pack your stuff and go, at that point.
It doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t ever feel content or happy or take a rest. It just means that as humans, our purpose on this planet is to create. So never stop creating. Once you’ve found yourself, don’t stop there… create, create create.
Now that you know what it is all about… get out there and create your awesome self and your amazing life! 🙂
